Microsoft vs. European Commission: the battle continues

June 12th, 2009

European Commission (EC) to pursue antitrust case despite Microsoft’s IE decision. Antitrust remedies still needed because stripping out IE from the OS doesn’t give consumers a choice of browser, EC says” (source)

This proves me once again: EC’s anti-monopoly case business with Microsoft is all about money. That’s how I see it:

EC:   Microsoft, please remove IE from Windows!
MS:  Sorry, we can’t.
EC:   Remove IE from Windows, I say!
MS:  We still can’t.
EC:   Right, from now on pay us 10 million every week until you remove IE from Windows!
MS:  OK, we have removed it now. We don’t pay you the fine anymore
EC:   Good. Eeeerm… s***, we’ve just lost our regular customer income. No! Put it back, how will the users download their favourite browser then?!
MS:  ?!?!?

DreamSpark: reloaded

April 24th, 2009

DreamSpark has become more “fruity” both in look and feel and content. There is a great variety of software from Microsoft you can get at http://www.dreamspark.com no cost:

With the new website design it’s even easier to get started:

  1. Sign in with your Windows Live ID at http://www.dreamspark.com (if you haven’t got one yet, it’s easy to sign up at https://signup.live.com/)
  2. Verify your student identity by selecting the name of your university from the drop-down menu, and then use your university login and password to authenticate yourself
  3. Finally choose the software you want to download

I hope you will find DreamSpark useful for your studies
